The Full-time Classical Ballet Program was established in 2010 and is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in classical ballet. Due to the standards of classical ballet around the world, these days it is imperative that students are training at an elite level and are prepared to the standards expected when coming to the auditioning stage. At Premiere Studios we provide the training necessary for students to reach these goals. Entry to the course is by audition only and class intake is kept to a minimum to ensure students receive more intimate training.

The course is open to students in academic year 7 and above and any student wishing to continue their academics can do so by the Distance Education Program. Opportunities to study in Certificate and Diploma courses are also available on request. Classes take place 9am - 3pm, Monday - Friday with afternoon classes open to full-time students but not compulsory.

Students train in Classical Ballet, Pointe, Pas De Deux, Variations/ Repertoire, Stretch, Contemporary, Pilates, Theory, Active Flex, Strength and Body Conditioning, Progressions Ballet Technique and RAD Technique. Students have access to fully qualified staff from both Sydney and local areas.

Students are assessed twice annually by our panel of experts to evaluate the students progression. Students not meeting the standards of the course physically or attitude wise may be asked to leave the course. Those students will be eligible to re apply at the following year’s auditions. A fee will be issued for both mid-year and end of year assessments.

This program has had continuos successes with students advancing on to professional schools and companies such as Australian Ballet School, Western Australian Performing Arts, Western Australian Ballet Company, Queensland Ballet Professional Year, New Zealand Ballet School, Melbourne Ballet Company, Victorinan State Ballet Company, Ballet West (UK), Central Ballet School (UK), School of Washington Ballet (USA), Joffery Ballet School (USA), Ajkun Ballet Theatre (USA), Queensland Dance School of Excellence, Atlanta Ballet 2 (USA), Sorbisches National Ensemble (GER), and such summer programs as Rambert Ballet, The Rocks School of Ballet, The Harid Conservatory, The School of American Ballet, The American Ballet Theatre, The Bolshoi Ballet School, Princess Grace Academy and The Royal Ballet School.

All students enrolled in the Full-time Classical Ballet Course are accessed in classical ballet and lyrical/contemporary by our panel twice a year. The outcome of these assessments will determine their progress throughout the course. Assessments are great indication to staff as to where a student is sitting and what adjustments, if any need to be made to their course. A fee will be issued for both mid-year and end of year assessments. At Premiere Studios we aim to train students to the best of their ability. In order to do so, students must commit to all classes provided in their course. Any student found to be slacking in class or missing numerous amounts of lessons will be dropped from the course. If you going to be absent from any classes, please make sure you make contact with our office. Students may be asked to be involved in performance group work. These classes usually run in the earlier hours of our afternoon program and are at no additional cost.

The studio holds both a Mid Year Showcase Display and End Of Year Gala Concert each year. All students are expected to attend any extra rehearsals that occur in the lead up to the performances. Students should also make themselves available for Petite Mid-Year and End of Year Gala performances.

A professional studio photo day is held close to the end of year concert, usually on a weekend. All students are expected to attend the photo shoot.

Students who will be unable to perform in concerts should indicate this to the Director as soon as possible after the date is announced to allow for casting. There will be extra costs involved in purchasing/hiring costumes for performances, although costs will be kept as low as possible. Additional AMCOS and rehearsal fee will be payable for end of year gala performances and mid-year showcase displays.

We have implemented a compulsory DVD purchase per family per concert (mid-year display and end of year gala performance). This is to ensure the videographer costs are covered and to stop the use of illegal copies being made. These costs will be added to your mid-year and end of year costume invoices.

Students wishing to complete R.A.D examinations will do so at the discretion of the teacher. Workshops for exam preparation will be during the school holidays before the examination. Mock examinations will also be run for all students before their examination, usually during school holidays.

2022 exam dates will depend on the RAD's schedule. Dates of actual examinations are determined by the Royal Academy of Dance and Premiere Studios has no control over the dates chosen. R.A.D charges exam fees, which are the responsibility of the student. Other fees related to the exam include hire of character skirts, pianist fees and rehearsal/mock exam fees.

Premiere Studios relies a great deal on parental support and fundraising for the studio and its students. All funds raised for the studio goes directly back into the studio and students. Fundraising benefits everyone and we would like to see just as much support equally from all parents. Please do your best to be involved in your child’s studio and make it a fruitful place for everyone. During busy periods at the studio parents may be called upon for help, and although this is not a requirement, any time given is much appreciated.

Students can enter eisteddfods or solo competitions at their own discretion. ALL COMPETITIONS must be passed by the studio staff before entering. Please send a list of desired eisteddfods/competitions to the studio before making any commitments. Students doing solo eisteddfod dances will need three copies of their music on CD. One is the master copy, one is to be used only at eisteddfods. Students should take a second copy of their music to all eisteddfod performances as a backup. Students are encouraged to have their music on a device for rehearsal purposes.

Students wishing to participate in eisteddfod groups can obtain a list of possible dates and performances through the office. Students may be asked to perform in these groups at the discretion of staff. Eisteddfods are normally held during school holidays.

As of 2022 we have implemented an Eisteddfod fee to all students participating in group eisteddfod performances. The cost of this fee will determine the cost of group entry and divided equally among the students. This fee will be invoiced.
